one summer's finds. Forgot the count but several thousand. The pile is two feet long, a foot wide, and about a foot deep. Wish it was like that now.

Those were the days Bill. Still, if they are only clad, then it can give you a bench mark to try and achieve again.

i miss the day when every dime you found was silver and every penny was a wheatie
You were detecting before 1959?

I know the feeling. Back in the 80's, we used to find lots of silver coins, almost any day we went. Now, it's tough to find even one.And those zinc pennies really make you appreciate finding a real copper one now...Times have certainlly changed.......

[size=medium]If you find a Canadian dime don't throw it away. I believe they are 50% silver. I found one in the sand box yesterday.

Well if that is only a few thousand, I'd like to see a pile of the 4600 I have found this year.

Also, back in those days, especially in sponsored hunts, we would tie our coin apron around our leg just below the knee so that when we retrieved the coin we just put it in the pouch so we wouldn't have to stand back up and waste time.

Yeah I know. Getting harder and harder to accumulate a decent pile of goodies. I hit playgrounds now and get a buck or two if lucky where I used to pick up seven to eight bucks. In one park some years back I picked up over $7.00 under one tree. Now I'm lucky if I find a third of that in the whole park. One little playground used to be good for $5.00 every time I hit it, now I'm lucky if I can pick up a buck there. It's depressing.
