Went out on Sunday, a friend took me to a place he use to live at the base of the mountain, where there use to be summer cottages it was kinda grown in didnt have much luck found one 1959 penny will have to try again in the fall. At this point i was getting pretty disgusted still thinking there was a problem with my quattro. This morning i decided to go back to the picnic grove the best spot i know. I set in all metal mode sens. 20. the first 10 minutes i dug up a couple pieces of lead. Then i got a signal that read between 22-26 bouncing around but steady so i started digging i dug down 8- 9 inches up pops a nice 14kt gold ring. i waved the coil over the ring it read a steady 22. I detected for another 2 hrs finding one penny and one buffalo nickel. When i got the ring home i washed off all the dirt looks like there was some kind of stone on the ring that came off, I will be going back tomorrow to shift the dirt where i found the ring to see if i can find it. Very cool ring even without the stone. 
You know it always sounds good sitting at a chair by your computer - "dig those iffy signals or anything that id's over 20" But after a couple 7" targets prove to be junk the idea doesn't seem so good. 
Anyway, good luck with finding the stone.
