Some discussion took place on another forum to the effect that more batteries equals deeper detection. In response I have a challenge:
Try this out. Strap a 12v car battery to your back and hook up your 8 AA-battery powered detector to it( for that matter, a 9v unit would't suffer any real damage ).
I'll wager your detector won't work any differently and it won't go deeper - you'll just need to change your batteries A LOT less often.
Let us know how long it lasts with a full charge
(I'll say, oh, a year at least! )
Battery storage capacity = longer circuit operation, NOT more depth. Depth is a function of circuit design.
