Battery Holder Queston

I hang all my detectors by the coil end.

I just got a GTax 550 and the battery is loose enough where after a minute or so the battery pack slides off.

I this normal or do some hold tighter?

No it ain't normal. I hang all mine up and don't have that problem. The battery pack is supposed to fit tight. Is this a new 550 or a used one? You might contact Garrett about it. Contact Melinda at Melinda.Harper@garrett.com

I live a couple of miles from the Garrett factory. I had my wife take the detector to them yesterday to see if they could fix the loose battery. I also asked her to get me a coil cover.

They not only fixed the detector while he waited but gave he a Garrett hat and the coil cover for having to wait.

Not that's servive and it only took 30 minutes. Now that's what I call service.

Thats Garrett. One of the best in terms of service. A few of the others could take lesson from them.
