Battery Life ?

I was wondering I read some were that safari detectors only get about 12 hours on a pack of alkalines,is this true ? How come e-trac/explorers get 16 ? You would think the machine with the more electronics would eat up battery's faster.

No difference in battery life between E-trac and Safari if you wear headphones they will last a little bit more.If I were to buy a minelab again I would buy Etrac for two funtions that Safari does not have back light for screen and display where auto sensitivity is running and more/better options on setting sensitivity.I see on another post you are still getting 22 shells I have not dug one in weeks you must be really hunting with disc low.For as much as we pay for these detectors they should have GPS to identify were we found each good coin,HD video built in with you tube auto set up,And thermo cell for bug control and coin washer like ball washer on golf course except for coins to clean up for camera.Any more features other than the ones listed would be optional of course.

I have an E-trac and the thing I like most is the separate numbers for ferrous and conductive. It really save's you alot of deep nail digging. If the ferrous number's are below 30 I dig it. If they are above thirty it is almost always a nail, unless it bounce's back to 12. Then it is usally a coin in the ground above or below a nail. I found a barber dime like that one time with the nail 2'' above it .
