Battery ? on explorer II and XS model

i used an explorer XS and it seams to me that the battery would last longer than the explorer II. the II dont last as long i could hunt for about 10-11 hours on the XS and on the II i get only about 7-8 hours and its dead is that normal

the wiring on the coil circuit is incorrect or defective.

This is just one of the possible causes, and symptoms, I know of as a fact.

I take it you are using the same battery pack between these two detectors?

If so while making the swap over between detectors of the same battery pack, try also swapping the coils between the two and see if it allows a longer use.

The cable on the coil or the wires in connector of the coil may require attention. If an inline probe is involved , this to may have a problem and mainly if not only in the switch box or the connector. Easy to fix and no real big deal if needed to do so.

The main search coil itself on the detector may also need attention and is also a possible cause of a higher than normal power consumption.

BUT If not so

Then your battery pack may simply require attention. Would not be the first time that the Nimh pack may have developed a defect for one or more of the cells. This two can be fixed with replacing the individual battery cell/s or just supplying the standard alkaline pack or simply obtaining a new nimh battery pack.

Other than that, the next possible cause would really require Minelab to address.

Hope this helps
