Battery Question

more than the battery pack itself... My XS shuts down by itself quite often with more than one pack I have.. Seems to do it most when seting the detector down and it falls over.. I think it just loses good contact with the battery pack.. It does seem to do it more often with half or less charge left, but the same packs in my EX II does it very seldom.. I think after many many battery changes the springs must get compressed inside a little... was gonn try and stretch them with a spring hook, but afraid I might yank them right off

it's a 1 hour charger with the 15 minute rechargable batteries .. usually from 2/3rds. charge to full capacity in under 30 minutes
From what I read on Rayovacs website, the 15 minute batteries have a built in charge rate regulator and once they reach full charge the charger turns off ? And ... every battery is staying even with each other, hopefully they will continue to perform this way.
Maybe they are feeding us a line of bull but so far I've had great luck with them
Pleasant weather, no yard work today finally and I'm headed out hunting this morning after I finish this cup of coffee.

Not enough information is posted on the page you showed to properly assess the charger. Features like, peak detection, zero delta, flex charging, 4 channel circuit and regulated power supply are not seen. Even the actual charge rate is not discussed. It is stated in the FAQ that cells will become hot when charging. This in itself is a NO-NO. That already is evidence of over charging. Battery should come of the charger at room temperature to slightly warm.
It is my opinion that 1 hour charging is too fast for all the cells to catch up with each other. Long term use will hasten cell deterioration.

dont brush them with batteries though

There have been a couple that go completly dead while others is just weaker than the others. The ones that are weaker than the others may pull down the whole pack so I replace them and I will put together and use these in my penlight flashlights and other AA items.
For what the batterys cost I find it would cost more to send them back than to toss them. I am sure if you bought them local it may not be too much of a problem, but mine i have bought on the internet.

Yep .. I agree 100% but I'm no charger/battery GURU by any stretch of the imagination either
All I can say for sure is that I've been using them for 5 months now and get really good performance with this set up (when it's needed). I also have 2 of minelabs 1600 Nihms that are my primary batteries. But .. for a quick set of batteries to use without that overnight wait time I have to say I'm pleased with these.
Thanks for your input.

Perhaps Iam missing a point here why not use the Explorer battery pack with the Quattro????

Minelab site has the 1600m/amp and a 1800m/amp. Anyone know who has the 1800? Does anyone have this 1800 or used it? Minelab site says it can add up to 15% more battery life.

It shows that 9.6V is when the battery is almost out of capacity. This curve shows the voltage when the Explorer II is being operated. The voltage in the off mode is greater than shown in the curve.
