Battery tip for older Sovereign

Hi guys;

I was hunting a lot and the battery was the only weak spot. I bought a rechargeable sealed 5 amp 12v battery and put a long lead on it and a plug to hook to the unit. I carry the battery in a canteen holder on a web belt. It's a little heavy but you can hunt for a LONG time with it. This makes the unit lighter since there is no battery in it any more. Since the voltage stays stable for much longer, the performance does also. The battery will charge to about 13v, this seemed to really boost the depth (like it needed it). LT

PS I have never heard that annoying low battery buzz again.

No reason at all for a depth or performance boost as the detector takes voltage from the battery and it passes through a voltage regulator before being used by the detector electronics. 11v 12v 14v will all give the same performance. Before performance will be afected the battery alarm will sound, thats part of what its there for.

I did remove the coil cover also. That may have been a factor. Of course I could have just been improving as it went along. It has always been a monster as far as depth.
