beach detecting?

I'm going to Virgina beach (Virgina) in a few weeks. I never really did any beach detecting, so I could use some tips from those of you with beach experience.

Sensitivity 18, look discrim 6 and lower. or just run coins and Jewelry.
I like the rocky sand usually mid beach.
Zig zag the beach from water line to towel line. THen you will find the hot spot, ususally mid beach.

Then pound mid beach.

When you get a find, spiral circle that spot for more finds.

Move quickly to cover a lot of ground, Use fast tracking (high trash mode) On the beach the Safari will literally scream at you when you hit a target.

I usually find more jewelry where the surf rolls in on the shore. Check the little gully that the surf makes, this is where rings and such get trapped. Your machine has a waterproof coil, just don't let the control box get wet. Also if you do get into the water, when you are done don't set your machine down with the coil up. The reason is that water might be in the shaft and can then run down into the control box. Happy hunting!! Ron:detecting:

Thanks guys! I have used the safari a good bit. (not as much as I would like) but I have not done any beach detecting so any tips are helpfull.

Get a sandscoop.

Wear a decent brimmed hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.

Carry a water bottle or two. Carry some junk to show folks you arnt finding anything. Put rings and jewlery away and speak not of them. Pe the beaople will claim your finds as theirs if you show them.

Enjoy th day and the bikini's... Sometimes there is treasure on the beach of a diffrent sort....:yikes:
