Beach hunter 300 for ny beaches

youdig?

New member
Hi, new here and looking to buy a metal detector. Want to hit beaches on Long Island (in the water) as well as some inland spots. A friend suggested the Whites Beachhunter 300 ID. Any thoughts or suggestions (especially from my fellow (lawn Gilanders);) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Look up the Tesoro Sand Shark if you want to hunt the wet sand and water.

I agree with Joeb 1999 had one and sold it, buy a sand shark or sea hunter 2 buy a good scoop you ll need it.

Thanks everybody. I don't see too many beach hunters mentioned in the forums. I'm going down tomorrow to xxxxxxxxxxxxxx in Patchogue, hopefully they can give me some much needed guidance.

You'll be in good hands there. They push Whites units hard, and it is a great machine - but, please don't buy ANYTHING until you decide whether you are a dry sand hunter, or wet surf guy! If you decide on a Pulse Induction unit, consider the Sand Shark. At $580.00 - it CANNOT be beat!

Hey Terry while I have your attention let me ask you. I'm looking to get in the water plus hit the beach, as well as the soccer fields and school yards. So ideally I want something that will be versatile enough for land and sea. Would you still go with the Sandshark and does treasure u. carry them? Thanks

No! The sand shark should only be considered if you are getting IN the water. Most successful beach hunters own a pi (wet) and a vlf (dry) unit. 90-percent of beach hunters are not fit enough, or to lazy to actually get in the water - so you'll see a million guys up on the dry sand. Too much trash metal on the beach for a pi unit. There is NO SUCH THING as an all around machine for the beach - i don't care what minelab owners say - LOL!

Originally, Arizona, where I run a business. I live in White Plains, NY about 8-months out of the year.

Hmm just wondering why you would travel out of your way when there are other dealers closer any way good luck with BHID 300 They are excellent machines for the money and they have excellent service

So now I'm reading up on Tesoro. Any thoughts on the compadre for inland use? I see a lot of good reviews and only one knob to play with. I'm thinking for the price of the bhid I could get a sand shark, a compadre and maybe even a scoop!

Not sure what you mean Marbien, but I get my machines directly from Rusty Henry at Tesoro. I have a professional relationship with Tesoro, through my gold prospecting school in Arizona. I have been using their machines for almost 20-years now. I know Vince Gifford, and have met many of the employees at the factory in Prescott.

Youdig, the Compadre is a GREAT machine - Go for it!

Cool thanks I will. I think MArbien was referring to xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx in Patchogue because you are upstate and Arizona?

You know Terry your right no unit is good in all spots, A PI unit can`t Disc out Iron, But the Garrett Sea Hunter`s got my vote??
Its good in the Fresh N the Salt and with the 10x14 it gos DEEP, With the Discreet its Like a Disc, get a Big scoop???? 4R turf get have a VLF unit i have a Minelab Explorer SP-Pro, Mickfin
