Beach Hunting with F75SE

I have a couple of questions about hunting dry beach sand sand. I would assume that the fast grab will work in the dry sand and ground balance on Maryland Beaches please correct me if I am wrong. Also would would you use the the power boost setting or another setting? Thanks for your help and opinions, Ezra.

Mine fast grab gb fine on the Ga beaches and I did run in the B P mode. In the dry sand it ran just like on the dirt and was getting two scoop depths with no problem. HH jim tn

Fastgrab may or may not work 100%....If you seem to be getting no depth then manually GB and see if that is better. Don't re grab GB using the forward switch Auto mode. It takes it only to lowest value of auto 40 I think.. better check that # , but seems I remember that figure.it may be lower on auto. Remember to set Discrmination to 25 or higher.

Added: I just read Jim Tn post. He has as much or more than anyones experience level on the Fishers..so if he says it Gb's Then it GB's using fastgrab....I respect his opinions very highly.

In the wet sand manual gb is a must and on my older F 75 and newer LTD the gb # was 12-16. Up in the dry sand, with fast grab gb was anywhere from the mid 50's -70's on Ga beaches. HH jim tn

Thank You Jim and Elton. I will definitely listen to your advise and I will make sure that I take the owners manual along just in case , I am looking forward to swinging this beautifully balance lightweight machine instead of my other heavy machines. Hopefully I will get down there in a couple weeks to play and have something to post when I get back thanks. Ezra.

ezra,
Maryland beaches present three general categories:
-ocean salt water
-bay and tributary brackish water of various salinity.
-fresh water ponds and lakes

I like boost mode, period. And pretty much keep it in boost mode.

On ocean salt water beaches, you can fast grab in the dry sand but must manually ground balance once the sand starts to get wet. damp sand may GB in the 6 to 20 range, but full wet is often at 0 or 1. There are 5 steps or clicks in the range for each number and when you are in the single digits, each click can make a big difference. The F75 will ground balance to the wettest parts but you need to stay on top of the ground balance when it is wet.

On some of the upper ends (less salinity) of the tidal tributaries, it will fast grab in the wet sand too; or at least mine will. If I need to manual GB it I will; it is easy to do and the higher the salinity, the more important it is to keep it ground balanced spot on. Listen to the detector and it will tell you when it needs some adjusting; but check the GB frequently anyway.

Fresh water, fast grab every where unless you hit some strange mineralization conditions.

Enjoy your hunting! Hope you get some precious metal. Take time to try different settings and modes to see what works for you (may not be what works for me; we all have our preferences).
Cheers,
tvr

tvr. Thanks for the advise probably gonna try to hit Delaware beachs and Ocean City MD. Looking forward to my continued learning with the F75 and of course I really enjoy the light weight and the depth of the machine with the power boost mode.. Thanks again , Ezra.
