Beach mode or tracking?

Bromly

Member
Hi all

I was wondering, on my 705 I can use beach mode or tracking or both on at the same time.I can't seem to find any diff. while hunting in the dry sand no matter the type of tracking I use.Even though I can get both icons up at the same time"beach&tracking" are both features actually working together? Is it possible I'm hurting my depth because I have the machine trying to hard to stay ground balanced ? Thank you for any input.

Ken

Put the X-Terra 705 in beach mode first, then ground balance it, turn the gain down if your getting false signals until it's stable, then turn on auto tracking.

With the X-Terra 705 set up this way it should work without giving false signals and still give some depth. When you move from wet sand to dry, always re-ground balance the detector, and also when you go from dry to wet sand.

I have found that the X-Terra works really well on the wet sand (salt beach) for me here in New England. The X-Terra 705 can be run at max gain with the right conditions on the beach, this includes the wet sand.

Good luck.

Hi Ken,

I use both.
Tracking works so well on my old xt70 the Tracking hardly ever is off - beach or park
A DD coil will also help with beach mineralisation
best of luck :)

Thanks for the info guys, good stuff!

When I'm detecting at the beach, I put my XT 70 in beach mode....if the sand is pure and white (which doesn't happen very often) I dont bother with tracking. If (which is most of the time) there is also black mineralised sand at the beach, in varying amounts in different spots, I put it in tracking as well. I try to remember that when I get a faint signal, to turn tracking off while I'm locating that target. HH

I usually do the Noise Canceling, then the ground balance, then the beach mode with the tracking and last turn the sensitivity down to 10 and go slowly moving from the dry to the wet. This works well for me out here in San Diego, very little noise. My best find today was a Man's 18k Platinum white & gold ring weighing in at 11.9 grams. My X-Terra 705 Rocks!! I can't imagine not hunting with it. Today I was using the 10 DD Elliptical coil. This machine has done everything for me, met all my expectations.

Hi again,

this is my understanding...Re : Ground balance then turn tracking On
- Dont bother to G.B before putting it into Tracking
because when in Tracking the machine automatically Ground Balances as you go along
so the G.B that you just did is wiped out and wasted anyway

Happy swinging :)
