Beach or in the water ?

I've hunted on the beaches of Florida on both coasts for years, and while I've had some success at it , I've been wondering if I could do better if I was searching in the water. Not diving, but wading.

Wellll...most likely, yes, but then again, you might not like it at all.....the bummer is, its totally different than hunting the dry..I love hunting the dry, swinging a huge swath, hitting it early and in the dark, really covering some ground...but when the sun comes up and its too hot...I'm pretty worn out by then, so into the water to cool off and slow down for a while..you cant cover a lot and go fast in the water, so while I'm sweeping the dry, I keep an eye out for a likely location that is either wave caused, or based upon what I found straight up on the beach from there...theres a lot of skill/conditioning to be successful at both...our dry gets pounded daily by every old guy with nothing better to do...the wet gets hammered by every old and young guy looking for gold, but its not as accessible, and usually cold, windy..Lake Michigan I'm talking here...on those unusually calm and warm water days, I'll just stay in the water for as long as I can since they dont come along that often....I just sort of try to get my share as the weather and wind dictates. Got great finds in both.

There was a time when I only dry sanded hunted the beach until I got in the water....what a difference, have found many, many more gold and silver jewelry in the water compared to the dry sand. It is different type hunting but once you hit that first gold ring and get used to that style of hunting there is no turning back. Good luck. HH

Yes I would certainly say that the water is where I have found all but 1 of my gold finds. I managed to find 5 gold rings and a decent necklace in the sea this winter, my beach finds are just pocket losses:- coins, keys etc. I did find a necklace for a family on the beach as Well, but I love the water. Good luck :)

JUST KIDDING....! The good stuff is almost always in the water. I've gotten less "stuff" in the water but it has been way better "stuff". If you get near PCB, give me a shout.
