Beachscan, C6, Impulse ?

Eric- What is the depth of the C6 and the Beachscan on 1 to 2 pennyweight gold nuggets? We want to purchase the best all around pulse unit (within our budget). The C6 sounds good and simple ( we want to hunt on dry land- i.e. nugget shoot), and the Beachscan sounds good too. Al at Discount Detectors did a test with a Fisher Impulse and found pennyweight gold and also small grain gold at pretty decent depths, so we are considering that unit also. Yes, we know that the Impulse is submersible, while the C6 and Beachscan are not. Everyone seems to claim "drift free and self-tuning"- whats the real scoop? Thanks in advance.

Hello M. Gudinski,
I have a CS-6 Pulse unit. It works great at the beach, it has a depth of around five to eight inches and sometimes at nine inches for a quarter. This may not sound very deep to some treasure hunters. But, it is when you can recovery more targets with less digging. I own serveal types of water units. The CS-6 unit is a very good unit for the price that they sell for. One night at the beach I stepped on the coil, putting a crack on the coil. I epoxyed the coil making it water proof again. I may post this unit to sell or trade. Maybe the first $150.00 takes it. Take care, Paul

Of the mentioned units the Beachscan is the most sensitive of them. Then the CS6, and in the back of the pack, the Fisher Impulse. The Fisher Impulse is not drift free, and self tuning. One needs to manually re-tune this unit while using. The other two are.
Perhaps my question to you should be, "what do you expect to use the above mentioned units for"? Due to the fact that those PI detectors were designed primary for jewelry hunting on the salt beach, and salt water, they make poor nugget hunters generally. Gold nuggets, and gold jewelry are both not in the same league. Gold nuggets are far more electrical conductive than gold jewelry, they are easier to detect for a given size. (notice I didn
