Been away, on vacation, snuck in some hunting...

Went to visit family and friends in my old southwestern PA hometown, for the past couple of weeks. While there, I hunted an 1800 church (found it to be heavily hunted), a couple of old parks (also nearly hunted out), a 1916 school (also hunted hard), an old homesite/cellar hole, an 1880s farmhouse, and my grandmother's 1952 home.

I found the old parks to be nearly empty; the school basically the same. Public spots appear to be hammered MUCH harder up there than they are here -- and to think I thought OK parks were hammered. WOW. The old church I found to be devoid of silver, but did dig a few old Indians. Best finds were at the farm house, and my grandmother's house. Didn't find any old silver (nothing older than Mercs), but did manage some nice stuff nonetheless, and enjoyed the trip back home. It's always good to be home.

Here are some pics of the coins/tokens/buttons, etc. Strangest find was the "pop-out" Mercury dime. Only other "pop-out" coin I have ever seen was posted here on the forum awhile back. Also found some other odds and ends of course, including a tootsietoy truck -- and, for the first time ever, square nails! :)

Looks like you had a good time & retrieved a nice bunch of coins & its always nice to spend time at home. Congrats & HH:clapping:

Very nice finds Steve.:clapping: Maybe you should go on vacation more often if you are getting results like that by just sneaking in some hunting time. HH.

Wow, nice haul.

You made it sound like you did'nt find anything on your trip. It seems to me that old parks and churches etc.. will soon be nothing but a memory as far as finding stuff. Private homes and such are all that is left for us.

Those are a lot of nice finds Steve.

I was wondering if all was well with you since you hadn't posted in a while.

Glad you had a nice visit with your family and friends:thumbup:
