Hope everyone had a good holiday weekend! We have been in Louisville with my sweet granny, who at the age of 85, suffered a serious brain bleed that required surgery to save her life. GOD sent a skilled team of surgeons, and she is talking and alert. She is off the vent and doing well. A miracle indeed. We are tired, but thankful. She is not out of the woods and will require rehab. MRSA (staph) is rampant at the local hospitals and if she doesn't have a run in with that, she should be out of the hospital in a week or so. I have had a job offer at a local pharmacy, but I feel like I may need to be granny's caregiver for awhile. No one else in the family is in a position to do that, so I am praying for guidance where that is concerned.

School is back in session and that is going...not well, but going. There has been so much going on and I can't seem to get my mind on my studies like last semester. I started this journey though and I will finish it. Might not earn the 4.0 I had last semester and that will just have to be okay.

I'm anxious to get caught up on everyones posts....I've missed my forum family!

Let me give you a piece of advice. Forget that 4.0. I got my degree as an adult and that was so important to me and made everything so much harder than it had to be. I really put too much pressure on myself and often caused myself health problems as I was working full time and going to school at the same time etc. After it was all over and done with, I saw how totally silly I had been. The 4.0 meant nothing!!! Having the degree was all that mattered.

Hope all goes well with your granny!!

Glad to have you back with us and I pray that your granny is protected from the staph infections and will be up and well, quickly, and homeward bound! It is great that you are in the position to where you can take care of her and, as always, God has prepared you ahead of time! As far as your schooling, do what you can when you can and be happy with your grade average and I'm sure it won't be that bad! Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and then the rest will be easier and your granny will be blessed in the love and care you give her! Don't ruin your health by doing too much, for everything is done in God's timing and He wants the best for you and your family! May God give you strength to do what needs to be done for His glory and praise! Amen! Ma Betty

Thanks ladies! I am a perfectionist, but a 4.0 is not that important to me. It IS important for me to continue in the program I want to stay in. When you enter a program where 4 are chosen out of a couple hundred, nothing less than a 4.0 would be acceptable. It IS VERY stressful....It's funny, years ago when I went to college the first time, I wasn't anywhere near a 4.0 because I didn't care. I was young, in love, etc., and my grades were good enough. I could have entered any program I wanted at a 3.0 or higher. Boy how things have changed. Life is sooo competitive now days. So many people are out of work and going back to school. Whew! Anyone ever feel as if this world is too fast paced? Sometimes I have a hard time keeping up!

My granny just got moved out of ICU. Everyone is amazed that a person of her age (with many health problems) could do so well. I say we have witnessed a true miracle :) Thank you GOD!!!!

Thanks for the good news concerning your granny and, yes, education has changed and things are moving fast, I know because yesterday, it was January, today it is September and tomorrow will be Thanksgiving and Christmas! The older I become the faster time seems to fly and so much has changed that it is really difficult to relax and enjoy life, but we can by leaning on and trusting in Jesus and not doubting what He can and will do for God's Children! The most important is to be ready and stay ready for Jesus' catching His faithful saints up unto HIm and then entering the Pearly Gate into everlasting joy and peace! Keep on in faith and you will endure and overcome and make it through all the trials that seem to come to one and all! Amen! Ma Betty

Glad you're back and hope things settle down for you - quick! I will be in prayer for your granny and for YOU. Liz, forget about the 4.0!!!! I've been there and done that!!! I stressed myself out over grades when I was in college. I thought that I simply HAD TO HAVE that 4.0. As long as you have the degree and have passed all qualifying tests, those grades do not mean a thing. I did get my 4.0 but now it doesn't mean a flippin thing. When employers look at your credentials, they don't look at your grades. Set a goal to do well but forget about thinking that you've got to have 4,0. It will almost kill you if you push yourself to do this. I don't know what type of classes you are having to take, but I know that the classes I had to have to be a teacher were a KILLER. Don't do it to yourself!!! Just relax and do the best you can... and forget 4.0.

Lisa
