wondering if anyone in the forum has had any experiences detecting in maine. york, cape neddick area. i will be there from the 7th to 17th. not much time so any help/ advice would be appreciated. i will be shipping my quattro out there ahead of time via ups, dont want to hastle with the plane, anyway, any beaches or land close to these areas worth looking at where one might find some history or??? i would like to stay away from popular clad laden areas if possible. visiting the inlaws and I'm from long beach ca. where there is not much history exept for oil fields, so I'm pretty exited to go somewhere with history.I do know the lot they built their house on was some sort of public park at some point. where they had outdoor concerts. the bleachers & ticket booth were still in their little jungle when they bought the property. they rebuilt the ticket booth & is now a storage shed. concerts with the likes of bb king etc. so not that old but apparently the property has only been owned by 4 people since the 17 hundreds so i will be looking around their property to start. the street is walt kuhn rd. if anyone is familiar with this area please let me know. thank u for any info .

York beach is right south of you and you'll find mucho there. Also Long Beach... There's a lot of Pirate lore in that area and you might just find some of the loot...

Enjoy Maine, the Lobster is fine eats and try the Chowder its outrageous. Running up Rout 1 you have Orchard Beach which is a Mecca for the Canadians. You might find a lot on that beach.

Maine is what life should be like for everyone..

I miss it..

ty edjcox, i appriciate that bit of info. I was there 2 years ago. beautiful place, I did a lot of the tourist bit while there for the first time, but all the time there i was thinking to myself... damn I should have brought the detector with me. well, this is my second chance & I'm not going to miss it. your last statement about maine, & (it's the way life should be) really brought a tear to my eye. maybe because i live in long beach ca. and there is just nothing like it here. I know the grass is greener on the other side allways, but it really is a beautiful charming place. thanks again & good luck to you.

Diggetdawg, Hope you have a wonderful time in Maine. Only been there once a about 4yrs ago, brought my detector found some clad. The weather was wet and cold when I went, it was in July sometime. Its true what edjcox said, you just can't visit Maine without the chowder and lobster. I lived in Napa, Ca. from 1972-75, I was only a kid, I remember lots of fun times. Any way good luck on your hunts. Ron :detecting:

thanks Ron, if i find nothing else in maine but chowder & lobster i will still have a great time. oh! & there is a bakery & candy store or two i will be revisiting. mmmmmmmmm mm all made while u watch. good luck out there ron.
