Being new to this forum. I have a question to the long time regulars.

Have any of you noticed the flood of new SE buyers lately?
Notice anything else?

Seems like the detector to buy. Hopefully, I can back up all the claims when it thaws out here. I'm excited to see what it's capable of.

1) The world is slowly being taken over by sticker bushes.
2) Where there are no sticker bushes there's those "wait a minute" vines.
3) If you get a good signal near a tree, just as you are about to dig you will get stung by Yellow Jackets.
4) You will swear to come back to the tree in the early winter to dig the signal, but forget where it was.
5) The one day when you can devote a full day to detecting, it will rain.
6)Even after all of this, we still love the hobby!

Nice to see other's being able to afford it...... So Pretty soon there will be many more posts about it like the ACE 250

that it seems like everyone has.... I'd like to hear all those good points about the SE Now....

Charles, as long as my XS stays together I will hold out for an SE or even if something comes out to replace that one. :)

This retirement income kind of makes a person more frugal on spending, but IF my original XS does deep six it, then SE here I come.

One thing I noticed about the forum, it was getting closer to the DFX forum in type of posts, more technical talk than good ole finds postings, like the good ole days :)

You are right. Either the advertising or timing or something is working for the new Explorer. It may be that many folks did not think the EII was enough of an upgrade to warrant the price but now they are going for the SE. Hard to say why. Seems like a lot of folks have switched brands. Maybe too many folks have compared signals with an Explorer vs their Brand, he he.

My only regret is that back in 2000, I should have gone to a lot of the big town parks before there got to be so many folks using the Explorer.

I am tumbling and rolling up my clad from the last few years in hopes of adding to the purchase of an SE soon.

This forum has always moved fast.

Anybody remember when this was the BBS forum?

PS I changed my userid since folks always wondered about my gender or made jokes about my name. Now I have ambiguity and a name as corney as the best of them.

Now you have my curiosity...you said you changed your UserID...what was it before???

Also, on the "BBS" thing, you mean FBS right? BBS was for the Sovereign and Excal.

FBS = Full Band Spectrum (28 freq's)

BBS = Broad Band Spectrum (17 freq's)

HH!

Hi Mike, Yes this was the BBS forum before FBS came out. At that time I was contemplating getting a ML. Then they came out with the Explorer XS and S. I got an XS a few months after they came out. So, I guess that makes me an old timer for the Explorer forum. Some of the guys have been here much longer using the BBS and FBS technology.

Cool. Well I guess my point was that at one time they had the BBS forum and then they added the FBS forum. And the Findmall had, for quite some time, a BBS forum and an FBS forum as two separate entities. And then the renamed them to the "Minelab Sovereign and Excalibur Forum" and the "Minelab Explorer Forum" which was also named the "Minelab Explorer and Quattro Forum" for a short time before they separated them. So when you said this "used to be the BBS forum", that's what threw me. I think it's more like "When there was no FBS forum". HH!

Actually I can remember when this forum first started, there seemed to be tons of people announcing their purchase of an Explorer, especially after we were posting a lot of the great stuff we were finding in the beginning, a lot of people checked into see what was being found and were dumping their old detectors and buying Explorers without even seeing them in person. The first couple of years of this forum did more for Minelab's Explorer sales than anything else in my opinion.

When the X-2 came out, there were a lot of people still buying their first Explorers. The ones who already had one were waiting on field reports to decide on upgrading their Explorer, so I don't remember as big of a flurry of excitement around the X-2 as the new SE.

Take care and HH, Mike.
