I found this Belt buckle

Notice the U. S. U has a dot then S Dot.

I was told this was from the Spanish American War. I do not hve the other piece. Can someone confirm my find?

Thank You very much. I sure wish I had found the other piece but in reality I may not have known what it was at the time. Found this and an Indian Head penny in an old House lot.
 
Unfortunately the only reason I got to hunt this site was because they were clearing the lot for an Apartment complex. Now it is covered with asphalt.
