Best day ever !! Dime trifecta and more !!!

Good weather brings good finds. Hit an old resort on Lake Vermilion this morning that my friend owns and was kind enough to give me full access to. Dates back to the 1920's for sure. Naturally I did'nt have the camera with on this most memorable day. Four silver dimes...'48 rosie, '36-D merc, 1906 barber and a KEY DATE 1913-S barber !!! Another 10 cent play money coin (thought it was a half-dime..almost dropped a turd)...and my favorite, and strangest...a 1943 French bus token maybe? It's made of aluminum..very light. And assorted clad coins and junk. I'm positive there are wheaties mixed in with that bunch of memorial pennies but they really do get punished up here. Gotta let 'em soak for a while...can't wait to see what dates are on them.

I can't say enough good things about the Explorer...amazing. 10 silver dimes, 1 buffalo nickel, 30 wheats (and counting), 3 IH's, 1 gold necklace and 2 rings in a little over a month...that is more than all of last year. Not too crazy about the pinpointing, but I really don't use or need it.

Excellent finds - four silver coins in one day including two Barber dimes (one key date) is fantastic. I think the French item is a 2 Franc coin issued during WWII and was made out of aluminum to conserve precious metal. I believe this was for Vichy France (the portion of France that viewed Germany as an ally). My guess is that some American GI brought it home as a souvenir from his travels. Keep up the good work & HH.

No body can call you a blind squirrel .... you got a bunch of nuts there. Really nice hunt. Looks like you almost got an idea of how the SE works.... either that or you have 3 or 4 bushel baskets of trash to go along with those finds.

Dew, I hunted from 10am to 2pm....and all the trash I dug is in the first picture. The ground was fairly clean considering 90 years of resorters passing through. And easy digging as well...a fine, sandy soil with hardly a rock in the way. And the area I detected was maybe 20 X 20 feet...with a clothesline running through the center. Did not dig a single nickel or pull-tab, as there was no indication of either. And I still think it's 99% dumb luck at this point...lol.

I was kind of bummed that I lanced the 1906 barber with my digger, but at least it was'nt the key date barber. :super:

Go Dave ! great HUNT

Big congrats Dave on that dime trio, key coin, and that alum coin had me fooled, sure looks silver!

That's a super day Dave....congrats:thumbup:

Those stinkin' play money tokens have nearly sent a few turds my way as well:biggrin:

Thanks everyone. After soaking the pennies overnight I found 5 wheaties, oldest is 1920, and one 1907 IH !

Wow nice hunt Dave!
