Best settings for the F75

Well-known member
I have seen this question posted several times and there seems to be no right or wrong answer. I have spent the past 2 days trying to find that perfect settings to get the most depth out of my F75. So again this is all air testing and about all I could come up with is a range. I was a little surprised that the different tones affected the depth.

So here goes my best setting,

Disc between 0 to 14, I was getting about 1/4" depth loss above 14
Sensitivity between 86 to 99, no more gain of depth on a dime above 86, so for me I will go with 90
Tones set at Dp, next runner up was both the 4 tones, with the hotter settings, tones Dp gave me about an extra 3/4" and 4 tones gave me about 1/2"

I didn't try to pick any one processor mode, all will effect the depth and each call for a different type of hunting condition.

No matter how many settings you try, you will never find that magical depth setting that you may be seeking. Never rely on a single setting that you think is best. The depth of the F75, and all detectors for that matter, are not just dependent on the settings on the detector itself. Ground conditions, the surroundings and even the weather can all affect depth on any detector. Optimal depth settings at a site can vary just a few yards away as soil conditions change. There are so many things that can effect depth for a detector that are unpredictable. When one realizes this and adjusts for it when needed will make a huge difference in his finds. The best way to learn this is practice, practice, practice! You are doing good by working the F75 and learning what settings are the best, just remember it is not just the settings on the detector that help determine depth, one must learn how to read the ground and the surroundings and then make adjustments to the detector to conform to conditions.

If there was a magic setting, the factory would use it and remove all other settings. Conditions will dictate what is best. EMI, ground mineralization, soil water content, a lot of factors change.

I guess I started this thread off with a bad title. I really didn't want to imply that the settings I stated were for hunting or the best all around settings. All I was saying is these settings seem to all add up to the best air testing numbers I could get out of my machine. So if I could re-name the thread it would be something like, The best or hottest air test settings for the F75.

Now with that said I think with a good ground balance every little bit while you are hunting and those settings would be good to start with. Most of the time I start with those settings if hunting deep silver and deal with the conditions as needed.
If clad stabbing I will ground balance and set the tones to 3 or 3h, sensitive to 40 or 50 and the processor to FA and take off. Along with that I would select a coil based on the amount of trash, if it is trashy I would go with either the NEL snake or the 6.5" concentric, less trash I would go with the NEL sharpshooter, and if it is pretty clean I would run the 11" for the best ground coverage. Going along with all the coils, I will run with the toe of the coil up just a little to give a little better ground coverage. I know some with say level with the ground is the only way to go, but a little toe up works good for me if I am not looking to run real deep.

If I am hunting inland jewelry I would set the sensitivity back up to 90, disc about 15, tones 3, and select the JE processor if it will run, if not I would run DE.

There is no way I can test here in WV and tell you how to get the best depth in the ground out of your F75. But giving out some hot air test settings it may help somebody get started and they can adjust as needed from those settings. Also I am a coin hunter primarily, with some inland jewelry from time to time, so all my testing is geared around finding coins.

Hope this clears things up a bit, sorry about the miss leading title.

After you ground balance then things start to get equal on your machine. Maximum depth is what most silver hunters want so by knowing what settings affect depth in a positive and a negative way will help hour machine get the maximum depth that day, in that soil, in that weather condition with that much EMI.

Good tips Ron---this is Excellent advice as a Starting place for determining YOUR settings in YOUR conditions. Thanks for taking the time to test and post.
