Best small coil? Sunray X-5, Excelerator 5, etc?

Chris/MA

I'm looking at getting a small coil, right now only have the stock coil and the excelerator 14"

The obvious choices would be the sunray X-5 or the excelerator 5".
I seem to recall there's also some other small ones like a 4.5 x 7", I forget who makes it though.

Which one would folks recommend?

I realize it may be hard to make a fair comparison if you've only used one of them, and since results depend on a lot of things besides the coil.

So, more specifically:
1. Best depth realized on a coin by the coil in question (not that I'm going to dig any foot deep coins with a 5" coil, but might as well get as much as possible.)
2. How does it perform in high-EMI areas, like under power lines?
3. How high sensitivity will it tolerate without major falsing issues? (I can deal with little bit, just not too much to hunt through)

Also looking to get a 10x12 SEF maybe. Who seems to have the best deals on those?

I asked this a month ago. I could not tell you specifically as I haven't got one yet either but maybe these people's opinions can help you.

I like my SR 5" also. I get surprisingly good depth with it for being so small. I found a merc @ over 6 inches in trash with it. Great little coil in my opinion!
