anyone that has metal detected for a while has found some interesting things eye balling while you are detecting.I have found marbles, paper money, old coins etc.one winter day back in the seventys i droped off the bluff in downtown ft.worth texas and headed for the site of the orginal fort to do some relic hunting.i had just turned my machine on and was headed towards a small wash out when i spotted a mans coat in some weeds.when i got closer i noticed a hand sticking out of the sleeve.i then went closer and determined that it was a mans body and that person was deceased.i went back up the hill, called the police.it was later determined that the fellow had died of natural causes.when i got home my wife ask me what i found that day and i told her she didnt want to know.

continuation of the above post,I did not want to appear calous about this situation.later i checked with the county and found that they could not locate any family members of this poor soul,They gave him a paupers funerall, and i went to it and put flowers on the grave.

and that is one find I prefer not to find. Strangest thing I can say I ever found was a Weedeater sitting next to a trash can in a park and no one else was aroung including park staff. Took it home and called the police...no reported thefts. It had some parts missing, and I had another one that didn't work. A little parts swapping and I had a working Weedeater again and the other for parts.

We were down in VA searching for CW relics on private property. There were 7 of us. I was working an area alone, but then decided to head back in the wood with the others. I started that way and they were coming my way. They said we have to leave! We found a body! I said no way! They said yes in a shallow grave. They said we have to notify the police. I said I want to see it first! Back we went. I told them we need to determine if it is human. All I heard was I aint touching it! I said I will! Next I heard that is tampering with evidance! No way, we are actually discovering something. We are all from out of state, and the last thing I want to do is call the police and the FBI out here to find out we found a critter! :) So I started peeling back the burlap that the bones were wrapped in, and one guy said there is a rib bone! I then seen a bone I had seen before, and set it aside. Next I found a large jaw bone. I said there ya go! These bones belong to a pig. You see, the bone I had notices was the ham bone. I cater pig roasts in the summer from time to time. Someone had burried the remains after a pig roast! The signal that the guy got when he went over it was an aluminum serving pan! We had a great laugh and took some pics holding the bones from the body we found!

Here are 5 of us standing by the hole holding some bones!

Glad you all found those bones and not me even if they were pig bones! I, also, would have probably thought someone had killed someone and buried them in a shallow grave, but I don't cater pig roasts, soooo glad it wasn't a murder or a death of a human!

Mike you didn't want the police and FBI there disturbing your CW Hunt!

God Bless!

Hello camel! Sure glad I have never found a dead body of any kind and especially a human one! That would sure spoil a day of detecting for sure and maybe for a week or more! So happy that you showed the pour guy respect and gave him flowers! It would be a shame for him to be buried without anyone to attend and show him respect as a human-being passing away! Jesus loves poor paupers too!

Heard some preaching on that today that if we as Christians are dressed well and see a person wearing just simple clothing to give them respect, as Jesus loves them also! We are not to be snobbish to anyone, for God made them and he made us and we are all the same in His eyes! He is no respector of person! Again, that was a really nice thing to do and God bless you for what you did for this poor soul!

God Bless!
