You can use the same discrimination pattern between the 2 different models, but the other settings I need that are not found on the S model is the Recovery Function ( Fast and Deep ), and Auto Noise Cancel. Also I have 4 specialized discrimination patterns for specific conditions stored in my XS.... you can not store discrimination patterns on the S model. There are some other features that are found only on the XS like the Edit and Learn functions on the discrimination patterns. If you are deciding between the 2 models, you need to decide what type of hunting you want to do.... if you are a casual detectorist on a tight budget, the S model is probably for you.... however, if you're a rabid detectorist who will invest in the necessary quality and features in a detector to feed his/her desire to get the most and best you can find, then go for the XS model. Sorry for the late reply, and thanks for your input, Mike.
