Blind squirrel finds nut

Went to a park near me this eve where they were digging up things today - all around the swings. Didn't find anything at all so decided to try roaming the park as I have done innumerable times before. On my 4th swing I pop up a Merc - 42 - my birth year. Stayed a little longer but got nothing but tabs & foil & didn't want to do too much as I am hitting it hard tomorrow morn.

A big congrats to you my friend! Glad you got that one! Not too many left out there!

Some years back a guy asked me to help him learn his detector. I said ok, but I dont know much about your machine. We went to the same park, about 20 feet away from today's find & he hooked it up and tried things. After some time I said I couldn't help much and he just needed practice.
I then said I'll just detect around on high disc while you use yours. Well in a couple minutes I popped up another Merc and he said "Lets leave". Dont know if he ever continued detecting :)

And yes, since then I have been over the same area several times - and will continue to do so forever probably. Steve

many don't have the patience to work for the good ones. I have seen way too many guys run all over while I work an area slowly! The results are in the finds! Congrats on the merc! :)

Than the one flat on the road :D:

Nice Steve !

Believe me, I wish I'd started doing this a long time ago. On the other hand, it's very rewarding to go out and find stuff that others have missed! I've had a couple of cool finds that were made much sweeter because I know others have been pounding the same areas for years. One guy I see every now and then couldn't believe I found all that silver in that ballpark last month. (I told him the park I found it in) He told me he'd been hunting there for a long, long time and actually stopped hunting it cause he wasn't finding anything. Don't you know that the very next weekend he was hunting that park? (but I never told him WHERE I found the silver)
