Boost mode Question....

Jay Evans

New member
I've read some posts that seem to point that when in boost/cache mode the deeper targets don't seem to ID as well..... My question (While waiting on my T2) is wouldn't raising the coil (when in these modes) help in gaining a better ID? Or am I wrong in my thinking? I'd like to hear what Monte & Dave J. have to say on the boost and cache modes and the ID scenario....
Thanks in advance, and thanks for the great forum!

What I meant to ask is would using one tone while in boost mode help the target ID better on deep targets ? I was thinking of a shallow target in the first post.......

If I now a site has very few targets and that they might be deep, I prefer to hunt in All Metal with a T2, Omega or Gamma.

If hunting in a motion Discriminate mode, and if I am mainly after coins, and if the coins are usually going to be relatively shallow and in abundance, such as at a tot-lot or playground or around picnic areas, etc., then I like to use a multi-tone approach. That would be 4 on the T2 and d4 on the Omega or Gamma.

If I am searching a site where I anticipate targets being deeper, and by that I mean 'mid-depths-to-deep" regarding coins and such, then I like to use either a 1+ or 2+ on the T2 (usually 2+ because I accept Iron most of the time), or the d2 Audio Tone with the Omega or Gamma. Why do I like this choice? Because, as I stated, I usually hunt with all metal acceptance and the '2' selection lets me audibly classify most Ferrous Vs Non-Ferrous targets.

Better still, when I am looking for the deeper targets the '1' and '2' Audi Tone selections will provide me with better overall depth and signal responsiveness, allowing me a better chance of hearing the weaker, deeper, fainter signals than if using a processed 3 or 4 tone ID setting.

Is that close to what you were wondering about?

Monte

Thanks Monte, I was just wondering if the TID worked better in all metal on deep targets .... My new LTD will be here tomorrow evening and I'll get better aquainted with it when I get it together and try it out. This is going to be new for me after swinging Tesoros all these years lol. But I have a feeling it'll be a change for the better. I've had the itch to try one of these FT detectors out for quite a while now.

and the Audio are separate entities on the machine.. The Audio response can signal you of a certain tone (hear a target deeper) than the Meter Id can read it accurately. So you will soon learn to rely on that ability of the machine..I will say it Id's pretty deep..on the meter.. So two tones says Iron (LOW) and Good HIGH).. I have found 11" Targets that showed no ID yet the audio response was ringing High coin.. and it was too. Once the ground was opened up it also sometimes will ID pretty close to the actual target reference number.. You will love the T2..learn it..it will be amazing to you what it can, and will find in the ground.. You will also be amazed by the speed it hits targets..
