Both my Deus units fail doing pumping Ground Balance

Both units,,,,,one has a 9" coil,,the other an 11" coil.

Here's the deal.

If reactivity is set to 2 or lower they both pass,,,any higher fail.

In and over clean ground,,checked in many many places.

Just a heads up.

If the mineralization in your ground is mild to benign, you may not get an OK message to appear. In that case, you can sweep the coil across the ground a few times and get the ground value - either run in treacking or switch to the GB screen and set the value in Manual.

For those of us in ground that is mineralized, we don't see that too often unless we are trying to pump over trash.

When we did a Bootcamp in Mississippi, the ground was virtually neutral sand and pumping did not work.

Remember, it is simply a way to quickly set the GB but the unit will track to the ground pretty quickly allowing you to use Manual at that value if desired. Then watch the upper number to see if an adjustment is needed

My ground not mild,,,,4 bars Fisher F75.

Half of Deus mineralization meter filled in when bobbing coil.

Just some reactivity settings don't work with pumping ground balance.

Does the behavior change with frequency and disc settings?
Will do some tests of my own later.
Seems ground mineralisation should be irrelevant except for the final reading , not the process.

Mine doesn't seem to matter what freq. i get the same results. have mild soil here no bars on ground meter, i just manually set mine to 82 and keep an eye on the reading as it doesn't seem to stray from 82-84.

Disc level,,silencer level seems to have no affect.

Reactivity levels 0,1, and 2 work fine.

Could this what I see here be tied to EMI????

Don't know.

Both units very consistent wth my observation of failing GB using pumping method.

In area where I have witnessesee/tested my units,,,,,power lines near.

Should also report ground conditions wet,,,definitely not dry or drier.

Maybe the Deus in reactivity 3 or higher settings, needs more mineral to work vs lower settings. Or is seeing less ground matrix (insufficient)with higher reactivity settings.

I saw no such tendency with mine and the 11" coil.
Ground is about a 25% up the mineralization bar on the Deus and GBed 86 to 87 , all frequencies tested the same , disc high or low , tracking held at 87 most of the time.

Just tried mine again,,about 650 ft from where I seen this yesterday.

Same result,,,,but only tried reactivity 2 and 3 settings.

Two reactivity passes every time,,79 in the window.

Three reactivity fails every single time.

Between the 2 areas tested,,,,soil would be the same/similar,,,and possibly EMI,,,,as light wires run throughout.

Interesting. This was an urban setting so EMI was certainly present to some degree. GBed easily even with reactivity at 5 but certainly didn't detect that way. Wet partially frozen ground in places but in tracking , GB was consistent. Beats me.................

Took my Deus with 9" coil to another site.

Over clean ground verified the very same thing I originally posted about.

Only checked reactivity 1,2 and 3.

One and two passed multiple times with pumping ground balance-- no fails.
Reactivity level 3,, never once did it pass-- all fails.
