Brand New Bag!:wiggle:

[attachment 85977 _IGP4155.JPG] The new bag, not a stiff as the old one.

My Ace 250 came with the :garrett: carry bag and it worked good for a while till I wanted to pack all of my digging and sifting junk in it and lug it through the woods for a couple of miles. For one it was too small and didn't have any pockets to squirrel away tools and other such goodies. I was wondering around Wal-Mart and found this bag for $9.82, cheaper than the :garrett: bag and with a few pockets.

[attachment 85978 _IGP4158.JPG] But it holds lots of junk!

It has a large expandable pocket on one end that holds my Frisbee/sifter and other large junk, a nice pocket on the front to hold my Sniper coil, a mesh pocket on the other end I figure I can throw my treasure in as I dig it up or just slide in a bottle of water (or beer or 3). It has a lot more room on the inside making it easy to break the Ace down and just slip it in, there is also plenty of room in the main compartment for my bag of excavation tools with maybe enough room left for my :garrett: S-1 as a back-up too. Now I have a secure place to put my headphones, spare batteries, MP3 player, camera, paper towels, and other assorted junk plus lunch. The bag can be found in the luggage section at Wally-World, it is easy to miss as it comes collapsed into a package about 12 x 12 x 3 inches.

I didn't just throw the Garrett bag in the closet to hide with the dust bunnies, I folded it neatly and placed it in the bottom of the main compartment, it will help pad the detector(s) and add a little stiffness to the new bag, I also might store the Ace in the :garrett: bag inside the new bag for extra protection while climbing the mountains here in Florida. Too bad it doesn't say :garrett: on the outside! Will be lugging it through the bushes and weeds this weekend on a "Field Test", well maybe not lugging it around since it came with a cheap shoulder strap that I swapped for the better one on the :garrett: bag. Happy hunting all and I hope you find this helpful.

Hi John!
Yep, its got room for 3 or 4 GPS units but I usually just carry my Garmin Etrex in its belt pouch, great little device keeps track of everywhere I go and I can quickly mark likely spots for further research and later hunting, I also can download it all to my computer when I get home.

I wonder if this shouldn't be a separate thread but here is a question: How many Garrett owners also own Garmin GPS units? Is it the fact that both names start with a "G" or that both companies make excellent products?
HH!

I use a tackle box. It's full, and I mean full. I just ordered a new 4.5inch coil and have to figure out what I'm going to have to remove to fit it in.

Here are a few things I keep in mine that I use a lot, large garbage bags (good as rain coats too,) a few bottles of water for emergency use (you'll know what I mean some day in August when you run out of what you brought,) sunscreen, bug spray, various gloves, Leatherman, emergency money, baggies and coin tubes. I carry lots more.

I use my Garrett bag to store whatever detector I'm not using in. Normally my Ace 250. It find it convenient for travel but not day to day use.

I don't generally bring a camera with me. Maybe I should rethink that.

Chris

I am rethinking the camera too, the only point and shoot I have anymore uses some strange material called "Film" and I am not sure what to do with it, I cant find the screen to preview my shots, my cell phone takes great pictures as long as there is plenty of light, not to hot in the dim areas.
