Brass Knuckles?

I was searching an older house from the early 1900's yesterday evening, and found these. Never seen anything like this, but that has happened before a thousand times.. Are they some kind of brass knuckles? Or something else? They look
like they could hurt you. There is a date? stamped into the base of the fins on one side 1881? and PATC on the other. Any input is appreciated.

What an interesting find! Yikes, those look like they could do some serious damage!
