I thought, a couple days in the 50's and maybe we'd get out to hunt some bare spots but the glaciers have hardly melted. Ugh is is March yet?

but it did settle down some
Gonna be a long time yet after those temps tho Charles, that was a long cold spell without a break

Man, I feel for you guys. I am below you in PA. I went to go out Saturday and couldn't even get the spade in the soil... Went out yesterday and everything had melted considerably in just one day.... I was amazed at how quick it went from can't dig to can. There still snow and ice here and you have to be selective in where you hunt but it's better than nothing. Those teens to below zero nights really froze up everything pretty solid. Good luck and I hope your thaw come real soon!

But we just had 4 days of 50+ weather and still almost all fields, lawns and shaded areas are still frozen with a thick layer of snow/ice. We did not have nowhere near as bad of cold spell as you, so only your sunny southern slopes will be available.
My son and I did get out yesterday (53 outside) but most areas were still covered, some bare ground still frozen, but we did find enough open area to have a couple hours of pingin.
Did find one UNK object, not sure what it is but if anyone has an idea, open for suggestions.
Don

Temps may rise into 50's even here in N.E. Pa. but cold nights are keeping the ground quite hard and going for a deepie would be a chore at best..

one of those things they used to pick up the old fire burning ovens tops .hhdon

Wish I had the broken off piece than I would know for sure, I have found pieces of the old stove at the same cellar hole........

Just a wild guess but thinking it might be some kind of old soldering iron used for seaming copper roofs???

could this be part of an ornate trigger guard?
