Surgery update
.
Posted 20 hours ago
As you know, this site has been down preventing me from updating.
The surgery lasted close to 4 hours and the surgeon said Brian did real good. He blocked several branches of veins leading to tumors on the right side of his face but can't be sure they are the bleeders. If Brian continues to bleed we will do another surgery today.
I didn't get a sleep room last night so I stayed at a motel with my parents and Jenny last night. There was no way Carol was going to leave Brian.
Carol said Brian was in extreme pain last night but they finally got him relaxed around 4:30am and he is sleeping good now. He only had minor spotting of blood over night which is a positive sign.
They still don't have any rooms available so we may be in ICU for a couple of more days. The doctor said we may be released Friday or Saturday.
I'm going take Carol downstairs and get some breakfast into her.
Thank you for your prayers!
God Bless,
Doug and Carol

The Roller Coaster

In situations like these you have no choice...you HAVE to ride the roller coaster. One minute you are down, the next minute you're joyful, then Mr. Down comes along again a little later. Then pure elation...all is well and looking great.
Then boom. Mr. Down hits again.
Brian woke up this morning in good spirits and with minimal pain. He sat up awhile and watched TV and then rested some more. Mom, dad and Jenny spent a lot of today visiting with him.
Other than a little residual blood from the surgery, he didn't bleed all day. Our spirits were high and this afternoon Carol, mom, Jenny and I were in the waiting area while dad kept Brian company.
It was nice to be able to relax and drink coffee and just have an enjoyable conversation knowing all was well so far.
Then dad burst into the waiting room with the news that Brian was bleeding again. This is the 100mph drop where your heart stops and your stomach wraps itself around your spine. No, no, nooooo!!!!
He bled enough to be alarmed about, not as much as before, but the nurse feels like the blood is fresh. We have a call into the doctors and now we just wait and see.
We'll keep you posted.
Thanks for your prayers and God bless!!

A little more bleeding.

Brian had another bleeding incident a couple of hours ago. Again, not as much as before but enough to be concerned about. He has been in a considerable amount of pain and the pain management team came by and increased his dosages. He is now sleeping good.
We got a sleep room tonight and once again Carol won't leave his side so I'm staying in the room.
We should be moved to a room on the 8th floor tomorrow. We were told we may be released by Friday or Saturday but that all may change since he is bleeding again.
Thank you for your prayers!!
