Please keep dad in your prayers!!
Posted 6 hours ago

He has been diagnosed with acute leukemia. He was admitted last night and released to go home for the weekend.

The initial prognosis is as follows:

Without treatment his life expectancy is about 6 weeks.

With intense chemo treatments for one week followed by a 3 week recovery time in the hospital, the odds are a 20% chance of the leukemia going into remission for a year.

This is based on averages of acute leukemia patients as I understand it. We'll know more Monday afternoon after they get the lab results back.

If the results lean toward the good side, the leukemia could stay in remission for as long as five years with chemo and blood transfusions.

He has an appointment Monday afternoon and they will go packed and ready for a one month hospital stay.

Dad still has his sense of humor. He said that now he could take up smoking!! LOL

We will be setting up a Carepage for dad shortly and we will post the link when it is up and running.

Our whole family wants to thank you for keeping dad, mom and our entire family in your prayers.
