Brian's Battle - Update 11-10-09 Money to Burn

Money to burn.

Brian has some money set aside and he feels it is just in his way and something needs to be done about it. I suggested that he could maybe trade it for a new pair of shoes for dad, or maybe invest it something that would help put food on the table like a new fishing rod. Or, and he just shuddered at the thought, save it for a rainy day. He didn't like any of my suggestions. And...today it's raining.

No, he thought it would be best to invest it in the new video game that came out or maybe a couple of toys. I tried.

So, if he feels up to it, I'm going to take him shopping for that new game he just can't live without.

Unfortunately, I'm afraid he won't feel up to it. The last couple of nights have been rough. His pain levels have been so high that he can't get to sleep until he just wears himself out. He begs me for more pain meds to dull the pain but there just isn't anything else we can do. The night before last he actually fell asleep sitting straight up, with his head hanging, and the lamp and TV on.

Once he gets to sleep he does pretty good, only waking up once or twice needing some meds and then he goes right back to sleep. Then he will usually sleep until around 11am or so.

Except for the last couple of days Brian has done pretty good. Sunday, he sat outside on the deck for about 30 minutes while Carol raked leaves in the backyard and he sat in the living room a couple of times and played his video games for short periods. He seemed to be doing much better. Hopefully he'll feel like getting out today.

I really could use a new fishing rod you know.

Glad to hear Brian has been up and about, even for short periods! I cannot even imagine the pain he has because I hurt so badly lately that I ache constantly and when I do something or walk while shopping, I am so tired and hurt even more! I am so sorry for him because pain is terrible and keeps a person awake instead of having a good and restful night's sleep! Jesus and His angels are still with you Brian and may He bless you now and always and your family, too!

I really feel for Brian. I can't begin to tell you how often I think of him during the week. I pray that the Lord touches his body and eases the pain.

I pray that the Lord continues to provide Doug and Carol with the strength they need.
 
...for your thoughts, prayers and words of encouragement. We have a lot to be thankful for. And we aren't giving up on Brian living through this because it is now in the Lord's hands and we believe in miracles. His will...will be done. In the meantime we'll comfort him and care for him the best that we can and praise God for every minute we get to spend with him. My faith is simple really. Brian is a gift from God, as is our daughter Sarah. Our life is a gift from God. So, no matter the circumstances, even in our anguish, we will praise God for the gifts He's given us and give all the glory to Him and try to honor him at work, home and at play. Many times I have failed in that regard and there are many, many areas in my life that need refinement. But God is working on that.

Another thing to be thankful for. Last year we spent Thanksgiving alone in Vanderbilt Children's hospital. This year we are having Thanksgiving at our house.

Thanks for thinking of us, thanks for praying for us.

You are welcome Doug and continued prayers and good thoughts goes out to all.....God's gifts are precious and when He decides He wants someone Home with Him, we can still thank Him for the time we have been given with our loved ones and friends! I know Cliff was very ill and God knew he was and took him home! I still miss him and will the rest of my life, for being 1-1/2 years apart in age...we were close when young and then we grew close again while he was alive and with me in my home! God is sooooo goooood and answers our hearts' desires! Amen! :angel: God Bless! Betty
