[size=medium]Another pot of coffee.
Posted 5 hours ago
3:30am: Brian hollers to wake us up. His trach suction machine isn't working. We stumble into his room half asleep and sure enough, it just clicks, flashes a light and goes off. Nothing. Fortunately his trach isn't blocked and he can breathe a little through his mouth. And, if needed, we can always change the trach.
4:00am: Carol, confident in the fact of my mechanical abilities, immediately gets on the phone and calls Children's Hospital Home Health to see if we can get another pump. Carol put on a pot of coffee. I still haven't fixed the machine. Brian is doing fine. Sarah is still asleep.
4:30am: Home Health calls back to tell us they have a loaner pump on the way. It should be here in an hour. I still can't figure out why it isn't working. Brian is OK. Sarah is still asleep.
5:30am: Home Health arrives with the loaner pump right on time. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I can now put away the vacuum cleaner and quit trying to convert it to suction pump. Carol promptly releases her grip on my throat. Brian tests the pump. Sarah is still asleep.
6:00am: I make breakfast for Carol and I and despite all odds it was edible. Happy Mother's Day...Carol!! Brian gives her his card and gift and then goes back to bed. Sarah is still asleep.
7:30am: I wash dishes and straighten up kitchen and promptly fall asleep on the couch. Carol falls asleep in recliner. Brian and Sarah still asleep.
10:00am: I wake up to the smell of another pot of coffee!!
All times are approximate.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
