Broke my silver drought today..

Of course that's the about the only kind of drought we've had around here in the past month. It's been raining probably 3 days out of 5 the last 3 weeks, and cloudy 4 out of 5. I got thinking today about how detecting is supposed to be a bit more productive after a good rain, due to soil moisture. Given it's been raining off and on for weeks, I decided to test the theory with the 12x10 SEF, and a site I've been beating on for years.

Well, I managed to produce an 1898 barber quarter, best coin the place has ever given up (I had found about 7 mercs previously). Then an 1893 indian, a nickel from the 50's, and a gold-plated costume jewelry pin. Plus 2 horseshoes from down deep that fooled me into thinking they might be iffy coin signals. I think I've found 4 or 5 horseshoes in the past month or so.

A very good day in my opinion.

That is a good day. Congrats.

Given the wet ground conditions, I can't say for sure if the SEF made the difference, but it certainly wasn't hurting.
I do know that I'd been over this spot before with a garrett, the DFX using a couple different coils, and then the explorer with the 14" excelerator. And I think I've been pretty thorough since it's only about a 20x 30 area.
