Buffalo hunting

Ayeti65

Member
A pleasant surprise in the park today, got out for two hours today before it got up to 95 degrees. Found this buffalo 1925 d by a big tree, can't wait to hit the rest of the park. Also found 18 other modern coins.

Favorite coin right there! :clapping: It sure would be cool to find a hobo nickel someday...good luck!

Isn't the "hobo nickel" wood? Lol. What do you use to find those? A stick with a paper plate taped to the end of it.

Nice find Ayeti65. I feel that they are more than a nickle. Kind a like a very special nickle.. Great detecting....Z

Hobo Nickels were buff nickels that were carved on by hobos...you should see some of the cool artwork on them...I guess a fellow can google hobo nickels, unless somebody has some good shots of them to post?

They are neat. I've seen a couple dug ones, but never found one myself. I am happy just finding one with a date. HH jim tn

Very cool coin!!!! And Mud is correct, just Googe "Hobo nickel" and then click on images! WOW!!!!! These things are amazing!

One of these days, when I am a real hobo, (which is determinant on whether I outlive my Wife) I will sit under an overpass bridge, and carve on a nickel with a piece of broken whiskey bottle, then toss that thing out there for one of you to find! Serious...
