My brother dug this at an old Calvary site in Central Arizona. Post Civil War - Indian War era. The out post was established to protect the settlers in the region. We have found numerous 56 Spencer and 44 Henry cases and bullets here but nothing like this one. It is .58 caliber, long for caliber, and has knurled lube grooves. Any ideas?
