Buried metal detectors in National Parks....anti-terrorism program or...

Pete in MI

are they really looking to catch guys with detectors coming into National Parks?

This is a YouTube video of a discussion with a Law Enforcement official. The discussion is why they are burying metal detectors with relay sensors that beam the signal to satellite then to a ground station where an on alert SWAT type teams helicopter into the park and nab people...supposedly those carrying weapons in the park...but will their detectors know the difference of say a guy carrying a metal detector, the metal frame of a backpack, someone carrying thier aluminum canoe, or a hiker with a hiking staff made of metal???

The conversation also said why can this be done to protect our parks yet we can't use that technology to stop illegal aliens from entering our country.

Just thought this was an interesting thing I ran across. What are your thoughts?

From what I heard it is mainly to catch nite hunters rading Civil War sites and such???
