Buried Spanish gold caches and a theory

Wirechief

New member
Ok guys here I go, I have an old man that has been hunting here in West Texas for buried Spanish gold for the last 35 years. As far as I know he has nothing to show for it. He does say he is in possesion of old maps and has seen many glyphs on rocks and other such things, the normal signs that are pictured in some of the treasure hunting books. He has a theory that these gold caches emit some sort of energy or signal at 500Hz. He and another younger fellow also have been doing the dowsing thing, you know the two copper rods held one in each hand. They have also used the Biddle and something called an MFD. I have been trying to be open minded and think outside the box. He said what causes these gold caches to emit a 500Hz signal is that the Earths magnetic field is interacting with the gold. They think I can create an instrument that will lead them right to the gold. I'm trying to be nice but they really want me to do all of the work and spend my money since they only offer a percentage if found! I think I should just fade away but if anyone would like to give an opinion feel free to do so. Thanks everyone and this is a great forum! Wirechief.

Hi Wirechief,

Yes, there are strange signals heard on 500 kHz. Mostly you hear them at sea, but it may be possible to hear them in the desert, when someone has gotten lost looking for Spanish Treasure.

500 kHz used to be the International Distress Frequency, before it was replaced by higher frequencies. The Earth has nothing to do with it, as Mae West would have said...

Dowsing rods, and other metaphysical devices work only in the hands of "gifted" people, if then...

My advice would be: Don't waste your effort--stay inside the box of the real physics, it's tricky enough...

Hi Al and it is really nice to meet you. Thanks for the response but I must correct you on the frquency it is 500Hertz not 500KHz. I know that 500 Hertz is in the hearing range of the human ear so it is difficult for me to see where he comes up with this frequency and theory. Anyway I have been slowly backing out of this situation so thanks for your input, much appreciated. God Bless, Wirechief.

Hi Wirechief,

Go to The Geotech Forum and hence to Remote Sensing. You will find valuable information there.

Eric.

Hello Eric and thanks for the link, I'll be sure to check it out. But are you maybe saying that the old man is not completely off his rocker? I will cu again Eric and I sure tried to get that Goldscan off of Ebay this morning but I guess I was too cheap! Thats the way they go.Wirechief.

Hi Wirechief,

What I am saying, is hang on to your money, and time. Or put it into something that is more soundly based on proven principles. Carl Moreland, (Darth Carl) of the Geotech Forums, has done a lot of investigation of devices and theories of long range location. Spend some time reading some posts on the link I gave, and judge for yourself.

Eric.

Here's a word that is the same, both in Spanish and in English: "Superstition"

No problem Eric and I appreciate your concern. I will just say my opinion of dowsing and this distant sensing right now, its garbage and if these two guys think I'm going to just let myself be sucked in with the promise of a cut of the loot they have lost their minds. I did play their game once and went out into the field for a couple of hours with a spherics receiver I had built already for my own entertainment and listened around and tried to keep from laughing while I was checking out the area. Needless to say all I heard was power line noise which I expected. Since I am a metal detector dealer I have tried to convince them that they need to study the maps and glyphs on the rocks and try to get in the general area of a suspected cache and do the footwork with a deepseeking metal detector. But since the old man played with the detectors 20 or so years ago he says they don't work and won't even consider trying the new generation stuff, so I can't help him. I have been trying to be nice to them by just fading out of the situation but the younger guy calls every so often to see if I have done anything. I guess I just need to tell it straight to them. I wish them the best and hope they hit the jackpot someday. CU later Eric and God Bless and have a great 4th of July. Wirechief.

Thanks for the wording Tom and nice to meet you here on the forum. The old man that is heading things up has conviced the younger partner that his way is the only way so they can have their way. CU later Tom and God Bless. Wirechief.

Wirechief, I used to live in the Hill Country near Leakey and their are Spanish ledgends and Jim Bowie silver mine tales that I have read about.
Seem to be a snipe hunt. Just a way of hoping for that roll of the dice that makes all the problem go away.
Not to say that there might not be a cache but I don't think a new detector will be the key.
Here's what you do. That a new good detector wrapr it in some new clothes and call it the xt 500 gold zapper, follow there maps and see what you can see.
Wyndham

Hi Wyndham and thanks for the suggestion and your right a new detector definitely won't be the answer since these guys want everything for free anyway including the gold. I know your just kidding and I wouldn't do that anyhow because I am an honest God fearing man that just wants to do people right as I would want the same from others. They just need to do some serious footwork. Ok Wyndham have a good one and thank you very much for your input cu later. Wirechief.

Yea, years ago I managed a ceder mill and had some folks from Mexico working there. One day it was quiet so I had several silver dollars on hand and I asked these fellows to burry them in the yard out front. I said IF I could find them they were mine again but if I could not, it was theres to keep.
I then brought out my MD and proceeded to find all the buried silver dollars, faces fell except for one fellow who jumped up and down with glee."Let's go to Mexico, I know where Pancho Villa's treasure is"
I gave them the dollars anyway because it way the right thing to do, but I always wondered about that one fellow.
I get the feeling sometimes that when I find that treasure cache, that will be the moment that God will laugh and call out "Come Up Hither". I'd alway want to be on the first call no matter what I'm holding on to.Wyndham

Alright Wyndham I like your outlook and in reality our real treasure is being laid up in Heaven for us. That is interesting about the Mexican fellow and I have just found out in the last few weeks that Mexican people are buying metal detectors here in the states and going back down to variuos locations in Mexico and looking for treasure caches. They must know something and I don't know if they are finding anything or not but they sure are trying. Actually at this point in time I'm more interested in learning about the theory and electronics of these instruments than finding stuff. I would like to do some serious electronic prospecting someday but being a working man and living where there is no gold nuggets it is very hard to go any distance to do such activity, but nice to dream. CU later Wyndham and may you find your treasure cache soon my friend. God Bless. Wirechief.

99.9% of the Mexican treasure lore you hear is just superstition. Where I am in CA has a lot of immigrants. Every last one of them is convinced that there is a treasure "back home", or in every cave in their home town, etc... When you ask them "how do you know that" or "what is your source of information?", it always "someone told someone, who told someone, who told someone, who told......." well, you get the picture. What cracks me up are the ones who said they saw a vision, or saw smoke coming from the ground, blah blah.

I finally relented to go down to chase some of these stories. Spent 3 weeks in scores of towns in Durango/Sierra Madres. Some of those towns have adobe houses 300+ yrs. old! Trash everywhere! For hundreds of years they've buried their garbage in their yards. Nothing is immune, no matter how far into the boonies you go....... trash. Did get some individual coins back to the 1800s, but I'm convinced that 99.9% of Mexican treasure stories are nothing more than wild imaginations. American manufacturers sure are cashing in on it though :)

I know what you mean Tom but you won't catch me south of the border even for treasure. Besides Federalis and Banditos you've got Alquieda training grounds there with Chinese military advisors. Nope I'll just stay in the USA! CU later Tom and take care. Wirechief.
