A friend found this at an old homesite and was wondering if anybody had any idea the history on it. Thanks for any help you can give.
 
It's a U.S. Centennial commemorative button. The building is Independence Hall in Philadelphia:

Could be a souvenir from the U.S. Centennial Exposition (world's fair) held in Philadelphia in 1876 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
