I found two button that I hope someone can help with or point me in a direction of a website or book.

I found these the other day. The one is a American Legion button, back has W.B. CO. Pat Dec 6 1919. Does anyone know a date range for that button?

Second buttton I can not read anything on the back, and have no clue on it.

Thanks for you time and help!

Jason

Oh I'm not a button specialist but some of us know how to tell old buttons from modern ones.

Here is the patent..

http://www.google.com/patents?id=06MpAAAAEBAJ&pg=PA1&dq=54296&hl=en&ei=NFfjTvS_C8ry8QP-r4TlAw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CDkQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=54296&f=false

WB Co. is waterbury button company ,that became waterbury companies inc. in 1944.
So I would guess its between 1919 -1944.
If I find more precise date I will post it.

Thanks Taz!

ANT, As I posted above, the back of the left button is unreadable. It is really bad.
The American Legion button has W B Co. Pat Dec 6 1919.

When judging buttons sometimes we can find clues by looking at the back to see whether the button is of a 2 piece construction or if it has a soldered

That patent on the Legion button was renewed in 1935 and they were marked as such. So It looks like it would date between 1919-1934.

Half way down this page it shows them...

Thanks for all the Help Taz, I sent you a private message also.
