C$ Menu + Number values.....

I got an e-mail asking about numbers on the C$ "Pie Chart" sticker often being different. I thought I'd share my thoughts with the forum & maybe others can chime in, as there are probably other factors I left out..(or said wrong as I'm not up on engineering:)
The sticker on top of the box is just a guide. I don't even look at it, and it's really such a non-factor that Fisher left it off of the ID-Excel Basically that's just a sticker that corresponds to what Fisher probably saw in their CA. test garden or factory airtests. Who knows what kind of coins or tabs Fisher was using? An indian head cent is going to read different than a Wheatie for example. There are many factors that influence the numbers. Depth is 1 big factor. A deep coin may read less of a number than the "pie chart" shows as it's getting far away from the coil. But even if a coin drops down to a +18 or +20, that's still a very "diggable" target. Mineralization also affects readings. Also, coins on edge will make the numbers differ too. I have dug indian heads that were around +14 before. Basically I run my iron disc on 99 & dig anything positive. You can't lose that way. I've found good buttons that read in @ only +6. Small gold/pewter can be down in that range too. Eventually you will forget the sticker is there and you'll have your own "chart" in your head. I know that a # in the +30's is usually a good coin or brass item. For some reason we know a +31 from every angle is a large cent here & we get EXCITED! Others have said their largies read higher, so I guess it's the soil difference.
Depending upon what type of items your looking for, people may wanna make your own "chart" for Civil War stuff for example. I hunt colonial coins & relics, & the Fisher sticker pertains to modern trash & coins. Some people swear Fisher messed up the TABS area. (I think John's C$ page addresses this?)
Anyhow, I made my own "RelicStrike" chart & taped it over the other one (see pic attached). But, I have it pretty much memorized now anyhow....HH, Bill

Do they really come up as the ID meter indicates? I doubt it but I'm sure they do on occasion! But I have a different hunting area than most as you know, and no gold coins! LOL, Ouch! HH, Mike
