Cain Field Yields Silver

Back to the Cain field again and after several more visits it paid off. Went back over the row I found that early civil war revenue cutter service coat button and some bullets. Yesterday found another two ringer and half a bottom back but today was the prize. After checking a hole and getting a few piece's of small iron I check the hole again and still get a good signal, after a little more digging and probing, this comes out. A near mint 1840 Seated liberty Half Dime, no drapery, minted in New Orleans, man was I one happy son of a gun. Hope the pic's turn out OK, you can see all the detail on the coin, even the face and liberty on her shield, every fold in her gown, Beautiful coin.

A real beauty. Congratulations.

Awesome piece of history. Congrats.

That is nice!

I don't think I'll find another one in that kind of shape, every detail is still in the coin. Bunch of can slaw, piece's of iron, one small flat button and a bigger flat button along with a dropped two ringer bullet is all I found there today. Five hours in that cane field wore me out today, think I'll hunt some yards the next 2 or 3 times out. I think one property I'm going to be able to hunt has hardly been touched, have to get on that one and see what's been hiding.

Very nice find, I would faint if I saw that silver coin looking back at me from the hole. Congrats
