It was really strange because the weather was great, but only myself & one other guy showed up for the hunt - the other was Prairie Dog off the Canadian Metal Detecting Forum. I didn't do anywhere near as well as PD - the hunt started at 10 on Sunday Morning - but my family and I attend church. Anyways, I went over after - arriving about 12:30 and met PD at the old Memorial Park Library in Calgary.
I came home with about $4.15 in clad - and a "chinese symbol" earring. Prairie Dog found some amazing stuff - it's too bad that most of the park is fenced off for land-scaping. Just beyond the fence was a huge pile of top-soil, and man, I would have loved to search there!
I think it is a site well worth searching again, but because of the neighbourhood, I wouldn't go alone. There is a lot of inner city use, and it has been known to have a few less desireable events happen nearby. Still, Prairie Dog came out with over $12.00 in clad, and two tokens (one I believe dating back to the 30's). He also found a 1922 Canadian penny - and knowing the site is actually a memorial to the Boer War, opening originally in 1915 - I think there is a lot more stuff there!
It was fun!
