CALLING ALL GAMMA 6000 OWNERS !

Hi Everybody !

I guess many of you who frequent this forum have read my story......brother-in-law gifted me a Gamma 6000 as an early Christmas gift, etc.,etc..

OK, it arrived at my home on November 03, 2012, so I had a short hunting season and then winter weather hit my area in South Eastern, Ohio.

I haven't seen many posts on the Gamma lately ; seems like the Delta 4000 and Omega 8000 Greek models are getting the most attention. So, if any Gamma owners would like to post their experiences in the field with this model, I would really appreciate it. Feel free to post the Pro or Con ! ... Also any operating tips :please:

Thanks much,

Here I was thinking that I was the only one that owned one of those, lol. I am new to metal detecting. I live in IL so now much metal detecting to do during the winter. Couple of weeks ago we were blessed with unseasonably warm weather and the ground thawed enough to get out 4 times. I went to a couple school playgrounds nearby and found about (12) pennys (2) nickels (2) Dimes (3) quarters, 5987 pop cans, (2) paper clips, some cosmetic jewelry and what I think is a silver ring. So far very pleased with it. Only took me one trip out with it though before I decided it was crazy to do this with a PinPointer Pro, the times after that went much better.

Hi Sledgeyj

Thanks much for posting your experiences with the Gamma !

Looks like you are catching on to MD'ing real fast ! Nice finds. Is there any stamping on the silver ring, for example .925 or 92.5 ? If so, that would be Sterling silver !

With reference to your above statement I colored blue, (a) are you referring to the Garrett Pro-pointer and (b) are you saying that the Gamma 6000 pinpoints so well that you really don't need the Pro-pointer ?

You got yourself a very good detector. The Gamma's stock coil is way better than the Omega's stock coil. I put a 8 inch coil on my Omega and never looked back. It's deeper, it handles EMI better and it pinpoints way better than the 10 inch elliptical coil does. With the 8 inch coil my Omega runs as good as the Gamma that I sold:thumbup:

tabman,

Glad your Omega's delivering top performance now with the 8" open coil !

Thanks for posting and the encouragement !

I'm eager for spring to arrive so I can spend more hours afield with my Gamma and become more efficient operating it.

Good Luck this year !
