Wow, MrChile, it would take me days to find that much stuff. Some day I'd like to learn how to do lake hunting. Very nice photos of the old lake. What Lake is it, if you don't mind me asking?

Doug

Great finds MrChile! Those pictures are great and it looks like you are going to be finding a lot of older coins at that lake from the looks of it. That pier sure looks like a hotspot for some excellent recoveries and if you can locate where that parking lot was, pristine hunting grounds for Barber Coinage and Merc's and even Standing Liberty Quarters. Good Luck on finding those old spots and can't wait until your next post to see if you located them.

You are a true friend with so many kind words - Hope to swing a coil togeter some day!!

By the way - I saw the post of the competion hunt - WTG

I don't really know if I could use such a big coil in most of the area's I detect in due to Iron and trash. There is a few spots I do wish I had a large coil for and just maybe one of the members will get one so I can try it out at these sights that I know would work great at. It is either that coil or the WOT 15" Coil I would purchase if I did want one bad enough. It would be great to hook up sometime but we will have to see if it is possible sometime. I look forward to your ENORMOUS HAUL from Labor Day Weekend and have a feeling that you will have some great finds once again. Good Luck and HH and may the bounty flow into your over-heaping treasure chest. ARRRRRRRGH Mate! :please:

Guess ya missed the question...

What whould be the best voltage setting on my Electolysis set up
Pic is above.....

And don't let those guy's talk ya into the wot coil(it's Heavy)

Not like the excelerator coil - trust me on this one....

I'am waiting for the crowds and heat to subside before I get back to the drained lake.............ya know what that meens...........

Sorry about that MrChile. I totally spaced it out. I would try to run a lower setting and see what happens. You could even run it half way open but I personally think running the Electrolysis Unit open all the way is what damages the item and makes them look the way they do. So try running a low voltage thru your next item and just remember that since you are using lower current, it may take a bit longer to get the item cleaned. Also, if you are cleaning say a Silver Dollar or some other bigger item, I would run half of the current output that your unit can produce and see if it helps with the look of the finished item. I know that Rick (ND) put my Silver Dollar into his unit and had it fully open and he then put a voltage tester into the water to see how much volts was going thru it. Fully open I believe was around 14 volts and when trying to clean a Silver Dollar, it knocked it down to 1.5 Volts I believe due to the size of the item. So give a few different settings a try and post what works best and I wish you luck with it since I myself have yet to figure out what the correct setting is, if there is a specific setting to get coins and other items cleaned without the crud still attached to the surface of the items. Good Luck and HH.

I believe my unit puts out 14 volts and 220 Milli amps I use. I tried a portable one using 9 volt battery and it was just too hard on the item being cleaned as there was too much current. Didn't take long for the battery to get hot and run it down.

Rick

You know more about the Electrolysis than I do. Thanks for clearing that up Rick!
