Hooked it all up loaded programs and still doesn't think camera is attached MGI PhotoSuite SE
and a RCA CDS4100. any tricks I'm missing??

That IBM supplies with it. If you don't have it get the 4 digit code and 3 letter model off the back and go to their site. My guess is your com port (assuming you are talking about a serial connection to the computer from your camera..) is not active. With the utility from IBM you can see whether it is on or off.
