Can anyone compare a minelab musky to the vaquero?

I had a musketeer advantage about 8 years ago, but didn't care for it and felt I was digging too much junk. I honestly wasn't very experienced detecting at the time though.

I remember it was heavy. ;-)

just curious---> what are some opinions of the musketeer?

+Same here. Musky was my first "New" detectector. Had it for a month and traded it. Yrs later my 2nd "Nrw"detector was the Vaq. Sold it cuz I liked my Bandido better>
Personaly I would prefer the Vaq over the Musky just because of the weight! Also if I recall right Disc would only work in Fixed GB mode. ??

The Musketeer is not for everyone, they are mainly considered a Relic machine but, does make an excellent coin machine.
If it was packaged the size of a Tesoro uMax, I would take the Musketeer Umax. Unfortunately when it comes to modern Canadian clad coins
the Musky likes to notch them out in disc. mode for the first 3" from the surface. Since the Musky does operate on a lower frequency then the Tesoro it handles mineralized ground much better It doesn't loose much depth in highly mineralized ground as the Tesoros (loose up to 50% or more). The Musketeer is not as sensitive to very small items as the Tesoro.

Two different machines Musketeer & Tesoros

A high frequency Tesoro with manual GB would make an excellent companion for the low freq. Musketeer.
With such an arsenal, you'll be able to handle just about any ground condition you'll come across.

The GB on the Musketeer does have an effect and is tied to Disc. mode.
