[attachment 148521 Photo0027.jpg]I was detecting about a month ago, and while i was sweeping with my ace, my eyes came across this object on the floor, it isnt metallic, it seems to be glass, or quartz.? Also its quite uniform in its design, i thought maybe a bit of meteor or something. But its too deliberate. its about 1.5 to 2inch, conical and with what seems to be some sort of regular pattern on it. ive enclosed a few pics, not the best, sorry guys. Hope someone can shed light on this. Thanks Oasis

Looks like a fossil to me. Looks like almost like a sea urchin but shaped more like a gastropod.
Hope that helps.

I have found some fossils similar to that when I lived in West Texas. It probably has crystallized that is why it appears to be glass.

hi guys, ive just found out that its an echinoid, a sea urchin. well the mould of one, the urchin is no longer there. its around 80 million years old, and apparently the area i found it is chalk based, and there should be more. so thats a double bonus, if i dont get some good md finds, i may find another fossil! thanx guys

Interesting find, that's for sure! I'm glad you found out what it was and did not throw it away. Wonder what a dinosaur turd would be worth? ha.ha.

Hey that's great. Maybe you can find some more fantastic finds like that. You might get famous. :) I'd send a pic of that to Garrett and to their Find of The Month deal.
