Can anyone offer some feedback on using an MXT PRO on a saltwater beach..

I'm wondering /wanting to know if it will gb on the wet sand and be stable enough to hunt down to the water line.. Would the 6x10 dd coil be a big improvement to help the situation??

any thoughts..

I use the mxt 300 with the 6x10 at jax beach to dry sand hunt, but I do not see any advantage to using it over a concentric coil. I often use the 12" super coil to the water line and into the wet sand and the results are actually better, less faulsing. The other factor is the mineralization in the sand has a great effect on the gb and smoothness of the hunt. Yes the 6x10 will do a decent job overall especially if you are flying to a beach location; I am assuming you are going to a salt water beach. The 6x10 would be easier maybe to fly with than a larger coil, but if you have more than one coil take all of them. EZ.

I was down in Florida last summer. Using the MXT with the 300 coil. Didnt have the 6x10 coil yet. Near the beach head, it made a good bit of noise and would overload some of the times at the waterline despite no target under the coil. I simply backed off the gain a bit or switched the TRAC from GROUND into the SALT mode (ground balanced) and it quieted down afterwards and could usually hunt with no problems and was actually swinging the coin in the water near the high tide edge. That usually worked. The other option was I kept the TRAC on GROUND and just simply went back inland a few yards toward the moist sand (vice wet sand) and it was all good. JMHO and experience on the SW Florida beaches. Flordiason who visits this site regularly maybe able to offer more suggestions from his perspective. CCH.
